Pay a $100 deposit per nuc now, then pay the remaining balance at pickup. (Balance per nuc $115)

About the bees

Nucs are a great way to get started beekeeping or even to grow your existing bee yard. My nucs are mothered by queens grafted from my own bee stock. Each queen is judged for things like gentleness, brood production, build-up abilities, honey production and hygienic behavior. I do not claim them to be one specific breed of genetics, just good ole hard working mutts. 


A good queen bee will lay full frames of brood each day when the resources become available (nectar/pollen). After that it doesn't take them long to grow the population and out grow the 5 frame nuc box. These nucs will be very strong (heavily populated) on the day of pickup and I recommend you have a full size 10 frame box to install them into once you arrive home afterward. Installing the bees is a very simple task and you can learn about it and many other beekeeping practices in my new book found here. I am also able to explain it or answer any other questions you may have building up to or on the day of pickup. 

What's Included:
-5 Deep Frames covered in bees.(roughly 3lbs of bees) Three of these frames will be brood of different stages, One frame of pollen, 1 frame of honey
-1 Laying Queen (Queen marked)
-1 Wax Coated Cardboard Nuc Box for transporting bees home

**Cardboard nucs will be sealed to keep bees contained. These boxes do have ventilation but I still highly recommend going straight home and installing them in your setup hive. Make all stops before picking up bees. 



How This Works (Read Carefully):
1. Each nuc is $215 total, by clicking "Pay Now" below you are agreeing to a non-refundable deposit ($100 per nuc), the deposit locks in your order. The balance ($115 per nuc) is paid on the day you pick up your bees. (May 20th-June 20th) Once you make the deposit Paypal will email you a receipt. (Check spam folder) 

2. Pickup of nucs will be outside of Martinsburg, Ohio. A address will be provided as we get close to pickup date. Just remember pick day do vary on the weather. I will each out to you via email to get your phone number. 

3. As pickup time draws closer, I will reach out to setup a date for pickup. I will work with you on setting a date but if you fail to reply or respond after repeated attempts to contact you, the sale will be void and you will lose your deposit.

4.In case that I can not fulfill your order by June 20th, I will refund 100% of your refund but this has never happened. If you place an order do not expect it before May 20th. All others leave in the order they came in. 

5. The nuc is your responsibility once you leave my bee yard. Please be prepared to haul bees safely. If you have any questions about this just ask. 

6. Cash only at time of pickup

NOTE: If you are just starting your beekeeping journey considering buying two nucs. The reason is it gives you the new beekeeper something to compare too or take resources from to help the other. Ask any beekeeper, having two is very handy at different times.

Making Wax Queen Cell Cups

  As a beekeeper I like to be able to make what I need for my bees. By doing this I know what I am getting which is a plus in my book.  I would like to teach you how to make your own wax cups to raise your queen bees in. This is not a difficult task but it can get messy if your not careful. Whats needed to complete wax cups: 1. 100% Pure bees wax melted 2. 5/16 dowel rod About 6" long 3. A cup of cold water 4. Sandpaper or sander 5. 1 Jz-Bz plastic queen cup We will start by shaping the tip of the dowel rod. You need to round the tip somewhat and bevel in the sides. It needs to look like the bottom of a cell (nicely rounded). The bees will reject anything they do not like. Just remember practices makes perfect, right? If you fail try something a little different.  Spend some time shaping the end of your dowel with sandpaper or electric sander. Just don't take off to much.
